Last week I took the time to download and compile E17 in my home directory on a Solaris 10 Sunray server. I did this as I use the Sunray for all of my work, and I don’t have root access. Well, I can say, it builds and runs quite happily using everything that is supplied with Solaris 10. Here’s a screenshot (click for full size):

    Hi,

Can you please describe the whole steps you took to install on a sun ray?

No probs. When I get the time, I’ll re-install it in my home directory and documents the steps I take. I’ll ping this post when it’s done.

    Hi There,
Is there any way you could explain how you did this on sun rays?
    Thanks.
    Deniz.

    Hi Deniz

See my post HOWTO: Build and Install E17 on Solaris 10 (the permalink at the bottom of all the comments ;-) )

Essentially, there’s nothing special about getting it working on a Sunray. I document compiling it from a user’s perspective, but there’s no good reason you couldn’t do this a root for your entire Sunray user population. It’s the same process, just a different installation directory.
